NEW FORD TRANSIT CUSTOM
Transit Custom has always been renowned for its toughness, functionality and reliability. Now, it delivers an even wider range of innovative features and smart technologies, plus greater efficiency and high levels of design and craftsmanship. The result: you can look forward to getting behind the wheel of a van that’s more refined and sophisticated than ever before.
Pick a wheelbase, choose a height.
Short Wheelbase (L1)
Long Wheelbase (L2)
For a mid-size van, you’ll find the New Transit Custom remarkably agile. It also comes with many clever features that make driving even easier.
Helping to keep you inside the speed limit
The New Transit Custom now comes with Intelligent Speed Assist, designed to enhance your speed control, enabling you to concentrate on the road. First, the Traffic Sign Recognition camera automatically detects the current speed limit (when activated), then the system adjusts your maximum speed setting to that limit.
Cruise control that can adapt automatically
With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed. Forward Alert is a technology that comes as part of Adaptive Cruise Control and is designed to warn you if you accidentally get too close to the vehicle in front.
New LED daytime running lights for style and visibility
Highly energy efficient, these advanced daytime running lights provide a signature look that really sets new Transit Custom apart: they’ll help get you noticed during the day and seen clearly at night.
Sensors that take the stress out of parking
Front and rear parking distance sensors help you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles in front or behind you. When the sensors detect an object, they activate a visual and audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it.
An advanced system to help you stay in lane
If it detects that you’re accidentally drifting out of lane, Lane-Keeping Alert can alert you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning.
Side Wind Stabilisation
Helps the driver to stay in lane in strong, gusty conditions by using the Electronic Stability Control system to sense when the vehicle is being affected by crosswinds.
Performance and Efficiency
The New Transit Custom is made to deliver an uncompromised combination of refined power with outstanding fuel efficiency and low emissions.
Improved power and torque are delivered by a range of Ford EcoBlue 2.0 litre engines. Already complying with stringent Euro Stage 6 emissions legislation, the benefits of these advanced powertrains are enhanced by a series of smart, economical technologies.
Powerful and efficient Ford EcoBlue engines
Engineered to meet strict Euro6 emissions standards, the New Transit Custom’s Ford EcoBlue 2.0L TDCi engines are available in three power outputs: 105 PS/ 360 Nm, 130 PS / 385 Nm and 170 PS / 405 Nm. All combine outstanding performance and power with lower fuel consumption and emissions: from as low as 5.7L/100km and 148g/km CO2.
An additive that removes pollution
A selective catalytic reduction system uses AdBlue®, a urea/water-based fluid to convert NOx emissions in the exhaust gas into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then reduces more than 99% of emitted solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust. To operate correctly, the AdBlue® tank of your Ford EcoBlue 2.0-litre engine must be filled with AdBlue® fluid. System warnings illuminate when fluid level becomes too low.
Acceleration Control helps you drive more economically
This innovative option controls the rate of acceleration according to whether your vehicle is un-laden or part-laden. As a result, you can expect to lower your fuel consumption by up to 15%, depending on your driving style. The technology can also help reduce the amount of wear and tear on the engine, brakes and tyres, along with other components.
SelectShift automatic transmission
Both the 130 PS and 170 PS engines are available with the six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. This is the standard powertrain of choice on a wide range of body styles and GVMs, and it’s designed to provide a smooth, relaxing driving experience, especially in busy stop-start traffic. The transmission allows you to change gear manually if you prefer, using the gear shifter buttons on the facia-mounted gear lever. It also provides the ability to lock out gears in more challenging driving conditions. For example, on slippery surfaces or steep gradients.
Essential journey information
An on-board trip computer gives you useful facts and figures about your mileage, fuel consumption, speed and the outside air temperature. It also includes ‘distance to empty’: roughly how far you can go on the fuel left in the tank. This is particularly useful on long journeys, or if you know you’ll be driving somewhere remote.
Comfort and Convenience
Durability meets practicality in the well-crafted cabin. Clever design provides plenty of storage. And with a range of smart technologies, including Ford SYNC 3, at your fingertips, you can use the cabin as a comfortable mobile office.
SYNC 3. For an effortless hands-free experience
Ford SYNC 3 is an advanced system that enables you to stay connected and control your phone, music and navigation system. Choose either voice commands or the 8” colour touchscreen with pinch-and-swipe gestures for intuitive navigation. Live Traffic can help you avoid the jams. You can even call up a list of local restaurants simply by saying “I’m hungry”.
Your office on the move
The flexible dual front passenger seat comes with easy-access under-seat stowage that’s big enough to store a laptop, files and other useful office accessories. On Trend, Limited and Sport series, the seat is available with a fold-out table, stowed on the upper part of the centre seat back. This table has a useable area of 345 mm x 240 mm which means you can easily place a laptop or clipboard on it. The fold-out table also features two cup-holders, a pen recess, and an elastic restraining strap.
It’s easy to adjust the temperature in your cab
New Transit Custom features new heating and air-conditioning control buttons positioned within easy reach of both the driver and front passenger. The temperature control dial on the right features a max cool and max warm setting whilst the dial on the left controls the fan speed when the temperature setting is on some gradient other than max. Depending on the vehicle specification, the buttons between the two dials are for controlling air-flow direction (windscreen and face, foot-well), heated seats, heated windscreen, heated rear window, heated mirrors and air-conditioning.
Better lighting for easier, safer loading
Optional super-bright, energy efficient LED lights for the load area are invaluable when you’re working inside the back of your van. They’re another simple, yet practical innovation.
Ford Easy Fuel, for foolproof filling-up
This useful technology makes it almost impossible to put the wrong fuel in your vehicle, because the wrong nozzle simply won’t fit. Even better, as Ford Easy Fuel is a capless system, you’ll never have to handle a dirty fuel cap again.
Safety and Security
The New Transit Custom sets the standard for a commercial vehicle in safeguarding its occupants and its cargo. A range of sophisticated driver assistance technologies can help with potentially hazardous situations including Pre-Collision Assist, with pedestrian detection and auto-braking. There’s also a super-strong body shell, Roll Stability Control and a choice of two state-of-the-art alarms.
Continuous protection against rolling over
Ford’s unique roll-rate sensor helps the Roll Stability Control system to keep the tyres grounded, specifically under conditions where there’s a high centre of gravity and when driving through off-camber turns.
A system that can help protect pedestrians
Pre-Collision Assist detects slower vehicles in the road ahead, or pedestrians and vehicles that could cross your path, and warns you of their presence. If you don’t respond, the system automatically applies the brakes. This technology is designed to help reduce the severity of accidents, or help avoid them altogether, and functions effectively at speeds of up to 50 mph / 80 km/h (assuming normal road and vehicle conditions).
As proof of its ability to protect you and your passengers, New Transit Custom has a 5-star rating by Euro NCAP.
Maximum grip with minimum effort
An advanced Traction Control System eliminates excessive wheelspin and gives you the best possible grip, performance and stability, just when you need it most. The system constantly monitors and adjusts the power delivered to the vehicle’s individual wheels ensuring maximum contact and grip when you’re accelerating.
Enhanced stability in difficult driving conditions
Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when it’s losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, helping to stabilise it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.
Control features that adapt to your load
Load Adaptive Control adjusts the Electronic Stability Control according to the overall weight you’re carrying. This ensures control and stability whether your Transit Custom is empty or fully loaded.
You choose which doors you want to lock and unlock
The New Transit Custom has remote control central door locking, which is more secure than ever. That’s because you can choose to open one individual door while the other doors stay securely locked until you activate a switch on the driver’s door. This same switch controls the locking and unlocking of all the vehicle’s doors.
Anti-tamper door locks
All door locks are protected by anti-tamper shielding designed to prevent them being broken by force.
An early warning if a tyre is going flat
If any of your tyres starts to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warns you immediately if there’s a puncture by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel.
The New Transit Custom is packed with ingenious and practical features to help you work more efficiently and easily. Its generous loadspace gives you exceptional access to make lighter work of loading. It’s also engineered to keep ownership costs to a minimum.
Exceptional Loadspace and access
The New Transit Custom provides impressive loadspace in all three dimensions: load length, width (from wheel arch to wheel arch) and usable interior height. As a result, it can easily carry standard 8’ x 4’ boards placed on their side or flat on the floor, three euro pallets and, thanks to its unique load-through storage area, items up to 3m long. Overall, the van provides a cavernous six cubic metres of loadspace with a bulkhead fitted – and that’s just the short wheelbase (L1) version. The long wheelbase (L2) offers 6.8 cubic metres. A wide side load door-opening, optimised opening height and a low rear access step ensures effortless access to loadspace. The sliding doors also have a checking mechanism which holds them securely open for loading.
Maximum protection with a super-strong bodyshell
Boron and other high or ultra-high-strength steels make up more than 40% of the New Transit Custom’s bodyshell, including parts of the passenger safety cell. This makes it extremely light and crash-resistant. The design of the bodyshell has also been optimised, using over 4,500 computer simulations and 30 full-vehicle crash tests.
Integrated Roof Rack improves convenience, economy and noise
An innovative roof rack simply folds flat when not in use. As well as saving you the hassle of bolting on and taking off a conventional rack, it lets you pass under 2m height restrictions (except for the 3,400 kilo Gross Vehicle Mass derivatives). It also helps save fuel because of reduced drag, and gives you a quieter ride with less wind noise.
Specially designed protection for your load floor
An optional easy-clean load-floor liner means you don’t have to install your own covering. This heavy- duty floor makes it easy to slide goods in and out, makes sweeping and cleaning quicker and easier, and will help maintain the residual value of your van.
More practical, more secure cargo restraints
Tie-down points are usually mounted on the floor. But they can be hard to get at when you’re trying to secure your cargo. So, Transit Custom has tie-down points positioned just above the floor on the side wall of the load space. This leaves the floor clear of obstructions, making access easier, eliminates dirt traps and allows for the new easy-clean load-floor liner. Additional fixing points are provided at waist and shoulder height, built into the structure of the vehicle, and can each take an impressive 30kgs of load.
Lock open your doors at 90 degrees
For practicality and ease of use, the rear doors can be locked open at 90 degrees and the check arms stowed inside them when they’re not in use. High visibility decals on the doors’ inner edges reflect light, warning other road users of the vehicles presence. And even closing the doors is now easier because improved air extraction vents relieve air pressure build-up in the cargo area.
Turning made easy
The New Transit Custom has a turning circle from just 10.96 metres, which is impressive for a vehicle of its size. This makes city driving, with all its parking, picking up and dropping off, so much easier.
