Behind the steering wheel of the Kuga, you’re in charge of a range of systems, features and technologies. All are designed to enhance your every drive. So you’re free to enjoy the experience to the full.

Features shown on this page may only be available on selected models. Where available, these features may be optional extras at additional cost.

Confidence in changeable conditions

An Intelligent AWD system can determine how much grip, cornering balance and responsiveness is required in wet, dry or icy conditions and on varying terrain. The technology is able to send drive to the front or rear axle depending on requirements. And this ‘torque on demand’ system delivers exceptional handling and improved efficiency.

Cruise control that can adapt automatically

With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.

An advanced system to help you stay in your lane

A Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Alert then warns you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning. If you're slow to react or don’t respond, Lane Keeping Aid can provide steering torque assistance to help guide you back into the right lane. The technology is designed for multi-lane roads (like motorways), so will automatically deactivate at speeds below 43mph or can be turned off manually.

Parking made even easier

Active Park Assist can steer you into parking spaces just 20% longer than your vehicle. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as you drive past. Then it automatically steers you in, while all you do is operate the accelerator, gears and brake (following on-screen instructions and audible signals).

A camera that’s always looking ahead

A small forward facing camera, located behind the inside rear-view mirror, provides a view looking down the road and in front of the vehicle. This enables the system to identify road signs, lane makings, and light sources from other vehicles. The Forward Camera System supports the following technologies: Lane Keeping Aid, Driver Alert, Auto High Beam and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Easier, safer reversing

Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera shows what’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.

Integrated navigation makes sure you get there

The Kuga comes with a fully integrated navigation system with a 8" colour screen and DAB audio. This responds to real-time traffic speeds and the latest traffic conditions, delivering more accurate estimated arrival times and trip information.

Extra control during hill starts

Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.

Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance

An important and potentially life-saving part of Ford SYNC is Emergency Assistance*. In the unlikely event of an accident, where the airbag is deployed or the fuel-pump deactivated, the technology can use a Bluetooth®-paired and connected mobile phone to automatically make a direct call to the Emergency Services for you. You can choose to stop the call, or talk to those services if you need to. Crucially, the system will supply vital information, such as your GPS coordinates, even if you are unconscious.

In the Ford Kuga, every feature puts your needs first. So sit back and enjoy the ride whilst a series of smart technologies work their magic for you.

Go hands-free with SYNC 3

SYNC 3 is our most advanced version to date. It’s faster and easier to use, with enhanced voice commands and even more functionality. The new interface has larger buttons for improved usability, and the colour Touchscreen now features pinch-and-swipe gestures found on smartphones and tablets for even more intuitive navigation. SYNC 3 also features AppLink, Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto, to display your smartphone’s information on the touchscreen.

A hands-free tailgate for effortless opening and closing

If you’ve got your hands full, and the Kuga senses the proximity of your KeyFree key fob, all you have to do is wave your foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate will automatically open or close.

A panorama roof for a lighter, airier feel

At the press of a button, the electronically operated roof blind glides away, allowing natural light to stream in through the panorama roof. At the same time, solar reflective glass keeps you cool and protects you from harmful UV rays.

Keeping you warm on cold days

Choose optional heated front driver and passenger seats to maximise your comfort. And if you’re the driver, freezing cold days are made far more tolerable by a heated steering wheel.

Clear your windscreen quickly, with Quickclear

This clever feature is designed to get you on the move quickly on frosty mornings. Just touch a button and ultra-thin filaments can superheat to de-ice, de-fog and de-mist your windscreen as well as help defrost the wipers. The system works in seconds, even if it’s freezing outside.

Wipers that automatically adjust to the rain

Rain-sensing wipers spring into action when they detect moisture on your windscreen, then adjust their speed to deal with whatever the weather throws at you. You can even choose from several sensitivity levels that determine how much moisture can build up before the wipers activate.

Press-button parking brake

A clever Electronic Parking Brake makes the traditional lever a thing of the past. Via the centre console, you can now effortlessly apply the parking brake with a simple switch. As well as making life easier, this useful feature also gives you extra stowage space.

High quality sound

A high quality audio system comes as standard with Ford SYNC 3 and delivers exceptional clarity of sound throughout the vehicle.

Potent performance and smooth responsiveness matched by outstanding fuel efficiency and low emissions: the Kuga delivers it all in one precision engineered package.

Power and efficiency without compromise

The 1.5-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine provides low emissions and fuel economy… without compromising power and handling.

A smart diesel option

Prefer diesel? Our 2.0L TDCi engine incorporates the latest technology to improve power, torque and economy, while lowering emissions. The 2.0L TDCi engine delivers a power output 150 PS, or an even more potent 180 PS.

Use less fuel with Auto-Start-Stop

When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system). When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto-Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).

Swift, manual gear changes

A 6-speed manual gearbox has a high torque capacity and delivers smooth, swift and accurate gear-changes. To help optimise fuel efficiency, a shift indicator icon on the instrument panel tells you when to change gear.

Ford PowerShift. Fast and fuel saving

Combining the convenience of an automatic with the control of a manual, this advanced six-speed gearbox pre-selects the next gear for you so you don’t lose power when you change. PowerShift’s lightning fast, seamless gear changes make driving smoother while saving fuel and lowering CO2emissions compared with a normal automatic.

Change gears fast, with your fingertips

Normally only found on high end sports cars, Paddle Shifters are available with your Kuga. This racing-inspired technology puts swift, effortless gear changes at your fingertips. And because the Paddle Shifters are mounted on the steering wheel, you can change gear more efficiently when cornering.

In the Kuga, the safety and security of you and your passengers is paramount. And a reassuringly long list of safety measures are designed to provide high levels of protection for your peace of mind.

To help avoid low speed collisions

The innovative Active City Stop helps the driver avoid a collision in slow-moving traffic or at speeds up to 30mph. It does this by continually measuring the distance to the vehicle in front when it is within a near range. If the system detects the vehicle in front has unexpectedly reduced speed, it automatically applies the brakes.

An advanced airbag system

An airbag system that incorporates front seat airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, curtain airbags and side airbags in the front row.

Helping to keep children safe

The Kuga is designed to help keep young children safe and secure on every journey. It comes with rear ISOFIX child seat attachment points, so you can easily fit two child seats.

Stay in control whatever the conditions

Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when a vehicle is losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, stabilising it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.

Advanced systems for more controlled braking

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution combine to ensure that your braking is more controlled.

5-star safety

As proof of its ability to protect you and your passengers, this vehicle has been awarded a 5-star rating by Euro NCAP.

Keeping your trailer safely in line

Trailer Sway Control detects ‘snaking’ or trailer sway and reduces your vehicle’s speed to help solve the problem, making towing more controlled. The system slows the vehicle down by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on all wheels.

An early warning if a tyre is going flat

If any of your tyres starts to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warns you immediately if there’s a puncture by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel.

One look at the Kuga and you can’t help but feel unstoppable.

And no wonder. This is a vehicle built to help you live out your sense of adventure. So it’s got all the features and technologies you need to get you to your favourite sport, game, activity...

A retractable tow bar: there when you need it

Tow bars are usually fixed, so they permanently stick out from the back of a vehicle. But the Kuga’s optional electrically releasable tow bar makes it easy to let the tow bar tuck away behind the bumper when not in use.

Easy-fold rear seats

Easy-fold rear seats split 60:40 and fold flat in a simple, one-hand operation, to create more space in the rear.

Space for all your stuff

The Ford Kuga’s boot space is both generous and flexible. So you can fit in everything you need for a sporty weekend away, a holiday with the family or an expedition to the shops. There are plenty of handy stowage areas throughout the vehicle for everything from large water bottles, an A4-size atlas and umbrella, to smaller items like sunglasses, your mobile phone and keys.

Adapt your boot space to suit you

With five people seated in comfort, the luggage compartment floor can be set low to create a deeper 406L space. Or in two-seat mode, set it higher to create a flat load area and an impressive 1,603L capacity with a hidden compartment below.

Carry more with optional roof rails

Optional roof rails can improve the practicality of your Kuga as well as enhance its image. They’re also required to install versatile accessory crossbars.
