Ford SYNC. Advanced hands-free technology
Ford SYNC lets you control your music and make and receive calls on your mobile, using simple, direct voice commands. You can use voice commands to play songs from a USB or MP3/iPod® too, or stream music from a Bluetooth®- compatible phone. The system even reads your incoming texts aloud (dependent on the mobile phone that is connected).
Cruise control that can adapt automatically
With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.
Extra control during hill starts
Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.
Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance
An important and potentially life-saving part of Ford SYNC is Emergency Assistance*. In the unlikely event of an accident, where the airbag is deployed or the fuel-pump deactivated, the technology can use a Bluetooth®-paired and connected mobile phone to automatically make a direct call to the Emergency Services for you. You can choose to stop the call, or talk to those services if you need to. Crucially, the system will supply vital information, such as your GPS coordinates, even if you are unconscious.
Operating a large passenger vehicle comes with a unique set of needs and responsibilities. So the Transit Minibus is specially designed to fulfil this specific task. It incorporates many innovative, ingenious and thoughtful features, all there to maximise the comfort, convenience and safety of everyone on-board.
Overhead Luggage Rack
- Overhead luggage racks now add greater versatility to the Transit Minibus range
- Available as an optional extra with the high roof option on the L3 models and it is standard on the L4 460 model
- LED reading lights are standard as part of the luggage racks
An advanced system to help you stay in lane
If it detects that you’re accidentally drifting out of lane, Lane-Keeping Alert can alert you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning.
Air conditioning for rear passengers
An optional separate air conditioning system is available for the rear passenger compartment. The system has its own rotary controls and two, foot-level outlets are also provided for each row of seats.
Lights that give you better nighttime visibility
If you’re indicating and turning into a road or pulling into a parking space, a light within the headlamp, on the turning side, automatically illuminates the side of the road to give you enhanced visibility through the turn.
Reclining passenger seats
With reclining seat backs and armrests fitted as standard on the Trend series, your passengers can sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.
Opening rear side windows
Premium-look tinted glass is fitted as standard and fourth-row passengers can enjoy the comfort and ventilation provided by an opening window in the side load door.
Access made easy
An extra-wide side load door provides two regulation-size exits. For easy access, there’s an electrically-operated side step as standard and passenger assist handles are conveniently located on both sides of the door.
A range of 2.2 litre TDCi HD diesel engines 125PS or 155PS RWD and which are Euro VI compliant , with 6-speed transmissions, deliver high levels of power and torque along with exceptional fuel efficiency to keep your running costs low. These advanced powertrains are also engineered to make journeys smoother and more relaxing for drivers and passengers alike.
More fuel-efficient gear changes
A Shift Indicator light on the instrument panel tells you when to change gear for maximum fuel efficiency. It’s a simple but effective way to help make every journey more economical.
Use less fuel with Auto-Start-Stop
When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system). When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto-Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).
Acceleration Control helps you drive more economically
This innovative option controls the rate of acceleration according to whether your vehicle is un-laden or part-laden. As a result, you can expect to lower your fuel consumption by up to 15%, depending on your driving style. The technology can also help reduce the amount of wear and tear on the engine, brakes and tyres, along with other components.
From monitoring your vehicle’s behaviour, to a system that can call the emergency services for you: a long list of technologies can prepare and protect drivers and passengers from almost every eventuality. Advanced security systems also exist to offer maximum protection for your Transit Minibus and peace of mind for you.
Stay in control whatever the conditions
Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when a vehicle is losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, stabilising it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.
Curvature Control is designed to help you maintain control of your Minibus if it enters a curve and is travelling too quickly. If the system detects understeer and senses the vehicle may be losing control, it first reduces engine torque then applies braking to help slow you down. This unique technology is particularly effective (and most reassuring) on banked curves with a camber, such as motorway turn-off ramps.
Extra power for emergency braking
Emergency Brake Assist helps your vehicle achieve maximum braking effectiveness in an emergency situation. It’s controlled automatically via the Electronic Stability Control system, which senses how much pressure you’ve applied to the brake yourself and automatically increases it, if necessary.
Continuous protection against rolling over
Ford’s unique roll-rate sensor helps the Roll Stability Control system to keep the tyres grounded, specifically under conditions where there’s a high centre of gravity and when driving through off-camber turns.
Maximum grip with minimum effort
An advanced Traction Control System eliminates excessive wheelspin and gives you the best possible grip, performance and stability, just when you need it most. The system constantly monitors and adjusts the power delivered to the vehicle’s individual wheels ensuring maximum contact and grip when you’re accelerating.
Driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags
A range of airbags is fitted either as standard or as available options. Driver and passenger airbags are standard on Transit Minibus. Advanced sensors are also positioned at key points in the vehicle to ensure a swift and controlled response.
